Conservation of Sumatran Tigers at TWNC

TWNC (Tambling Wildlife Nature Conservation) is a conservation area managed by AGP, covering 48,153 hectares. It serves as a habitat for the natural breeding of wildlife both on land and at sea. One of the critically endangered species in Indonesia found in TWNC is the Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae).

The Sumatran Tiger Rescue Center was established in 2007 to rehabilitate conflict tigers. To date, the Rescue Center has rehabilitated 13 tigers, 6 of which have been successfully released back into the wild. After their release, the TWNC team regularly conducts monitoring of Sumatran tigers and other wildlife to track their presence using observation methods and Camera Trap (CT) installations.
