Medan, 13 December 2025 — In an effort to ease the burden of communities affected by flash floods in Kampung Aur, Medan Maimun District, Medan City, Artha Graha Peduli (AGP), together with Bank Artha Graha Internasional Medan Pemuda Branch (BAGI), organized the AGP 2025 post-disaster relief program. This initiative focused on providing basic necessities for hundreds of families severely impacted by the disaster that occurred from late November to early December 2025.

The major flooding caused by the overflow of the Deli River resulted in significant damage, with water levels reaching up to two meters and leaving thick mud up to 50 cm high in residential areas. Kampung Aur was among the hardest-hit locations, urgently requiring immediate assistance for recovery. This disaster relief activity reflects the commitment of Bank Artha Graha Internasional and Artha Graha Peduli to always be present for communities in need, especially during emergency situations.

One of the affected residents, Nur Hikmah (38), shared her experience: “Today we are very happy to receive assistance from Artha Graha Peduli. We are flood victims here; on Thursday, 27 November, the flood reached a height of five meters and even passed through our house windows,” she said.

As part of this humanitarian action, BAGI and Artha Graha Peduli distributed 400 food aid packages free of charge to the community. Each package contained essential items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, and instant noodles, which are critically needed amid post-disaster limitations.

The aid distribution was focused on several areas significantly affected by flash floods and landslides in Medan City, including Jalan Mantri, Jalan Kampung Aur, and Jalan Pantai Burung. The selection of these locations was based on the severity of the impact and the actual needs of the community, ensuring that assistance was delivered accurately and effectively.

The distribution process involved the management and employees of Bank Artha Graha Internasional Medan Pemuda Branch together with Artha Graha Peduli, in coordination with relevant authorities and local communities. This collaboration aimed to ensure that the aid distribution ran smoothly, orderly, and provided maximum benefit to recipients.

Branch Director of Bank Artha Graha Internasional Medan Pemuda Branch, Sumina, stated that “the main objective of this aid distribution is to ease the burden of affected communities, help fulfill their basic daily needs, and provide moral support so that they can regain the spirit to recover after the disaster.”

The flash floods and landslides in North Sumatra have had a major impact on community life, disrupting economic and social activities, damaging residential facilities and infrastructure, and causing difficulties for residents in meeting basic needs and maintaining family health.

Bank Artha Graha Internasional (BAGI) expressed its deep concern over the conditions faced by the affected communities. Through this initiative, BAGI reaffirms its commitment to be present not only as a financial institution, but also as a socially responsible partner that is caring, responsive, and attentive to community needs.

This aid distribution is part of the ongoing CSSR program of Bank Artha Graha Internasional (BAGI) and Artha Graha Peduli. Going forward, BAGI will continue to monitor developments on the ground and explore opportunities for further support in accordance with community needs, while maintaining coordination with relevant stakeholders.

BAGI hopes that the assistance provided will deliver tangible benefits and help ease the burden on affected communities. In addition, BAGI invites all parties to work together and support the post-disaster recovery process following the flash floods and landslides in North Sumatra.
